ACS 139th Founder’s Day Dinner, 1 March 2025
The 139th ACS Founder’s Day Dinner was a full-house event, with 95 tables of ACSians and well-wishers filling the Island Ballroom at the Shangri-La Hotel to capacity. The event was magnificent affair with the contributions of about 60 current students from the various ACS schools supporting the event, and ensuring it was a success.
Opening with the bagpipes and drums of the 12th Singapore Company Boys Brigade, this year’s band saw a combination of pipers and drummers from both ACS (Independent) and ACS (Barker Road) performing together in unison, demonstrating that even though we could be from different schools, we are still ONE ACS. This was followed by a rousing rendition of the ACS Anthem, led by members of the ACSOBA Management Committee from the stage. Following the anthem, President of the ACSOBA Dr Wong Heng Yu delivered his opening address, welcoming the attendees, and this was followed by grace by TRAC President Rev Reuben Ng, who is an Old Boy and was formerly chaplain of ACJC.
This year’s entertainment saw a marked change with different groups from the various schools performing. The performance kicked off with a choral presentation by four ladies from ACS International delivering two beautifully sung pieces that were warmly received by the audience. This was followed by the ACJC Concert Band (Wind Section), also making their debut at FDD 2025, while ACJC’s ACSian Theatre, as in previous years, delivered two rousing dance performances that added a certain level of pep and vigour to the evening.
The Founder’s Day Dinner remains one of the key events in the ACS calendar—an opportunity for ONE ACS to come together, to Honour and Embrace the rich legacy of ACS.
