President’s past MESSAGE

Dear Members

A blessed Founder’s Day to you from the ACSOBA.

2022 was a year of transition. Due to COVID-19 restrictions during the earlier part of the year, we were once again unable to host our annual Founder’s Day Dinner, the Past vs Present games nor the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in person. However, the lifting of restrictions after May 2022 allowed the ACSOBA to consider more activities in a face-to-face setting.
We began the year with the ACSOBA 135 Golf Classic, which raised more than $58,000 towards the Retired Teachers Welfare Fund, followed by ACS 136th Founder’s Day Thanksgiving Service over zoom. We had our signature Retired Teachers’ Tribute Dinner and saw the coming of about 200 retired teachers with old boys and gals together for a warm fellowship. We hosted our first industry networking evening for members from Real Estate industry, and commenced in-person fellowship for the ACSOBA Marketplace Christian Fellowship (MCF). We ended the year strong with a reception for new members at the One ACS Heritage Gallery at the Barker Road Campus. This was a great chance to welcome new members who joined the ACSOBA in 2022 and introduce them to our activities.

2023 presents the chance for new beginnings and we are looking forward to several key activities that bring ACSians together, especially during the first quarter.
Top of the list would be the ACS 137th Founder’s Day Dinner – back after a three-year hiatus. A noticeable absence in our annual calendar the past few years, Wednesday, 1 March 2023 will certainly be a date to remember as we celebrate “One ACS – Stronger Together”. Get your early-bird tickets at https://tinyurl.com/FDD-2023
Another returning activity will be the Past Vs Present games on Saturday, 25 February 2023, an annual event that embraces our sporting heritage. Working together with Oldham Club and our schools, we look forward to ACSians who are passionate about various sports gathering for a day of sportsmanship and friendly competition.
Wrapping up the first quarter will also be our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, 31 March 2023. Conducted in-person after three years on Zoom, the AGM gives members a chance to hear about the activities of the ACSOBA as well as elect office bearers for the 2023 – 2025 term. It is an important milestone to help the Management Committee understand what our members want, so I hope that many of you will be able to attend!
There are also several other events we are looking to commence, such as our second series of the ACSOBA Mentorship programme and the ONE ACS Speaker Series. We are still in the process of working out the final details of these but will be sure to update you as things are firmed up. I highly encourage all ACSOBA members to read our monthly e-blasts or to go online for updates on social media on Facebook and LinkedIn. If you have any questions about how to connect, please feel free to contact the ACSOBA office at admin@acsoba.net.
All our activities are only possible due to the hard work of members of the ACSOBA Management Committee and all the volunteers who support us in the planning and delivery of these programmes. I would like to thank them for all their efforts under extraordinary circumstances in 2022. These efforts have been greatly appreciated by members of the ACSOBA. If you would like to help us in 2023, please contact admin@acsoba.net.
With your help and participation, 2023 will be a banner year for the ACSOBA. I hope for your support in our successes and look forward to meeting you in our activities.
With warmest wishes,
Lock Wai Han
